Parabens
According to my trusty 'ol source ;) Wikipedia, parabens are a group of chemicals used as preservatives. They are mainly found in beauty products, but in food additives as well. Why are they used? You may have guessed it. It's the cheap route. (The neutrality of the Wikipedia article is disputed. It is clearly is pushing that Parabens are scientifically safe.)
I like the motto of The Good Human: "Don't Blow It. Good Planets Are Hard To Find." It's another one of those green Sites that will definitely benefit me as I continue to my quest to learn more about the world of being green.
This Site refers to studies that show Parabens mimic estrogen (which can play a role in breast cancer) and have effects on the reproductive system in various ways. The information on Wikipedia also discusses these issues and definitely is definitely taking the position that they are safe. True or not scientifically true, why not avoid them if they aren't necessary in the first place? There are many products available that do not contain Paragen preservatives, so there are obviously options.
