Money, money, money...moneyyyyyy...money.


My recent life changes will save our family well over $2000.00 ANNUALLY. Check it out:


CLOTH DIAPER EXPENDITURES:
Based on NW Natural's Energy Savings Calculator for Energy Star, front loading washing machine, here is the breakdown:

Washer (calculated at 4-6 loads/week using hot water wash & cold water rinse)
Annual Energy Cost- $31-39
Annual Water Cost- $6-8


Using PGE's Energy Calculator, here is the breakdown for drying cloths at 5500 watts:
Dryer (Calculated at 15 loads/month)
Annual Dryer Cost- $61.44


Laundry Detergent (Kirkland Signature Ultra at $.12/load average of 180 year):
Annual Detergent use- $21.60


Monies into cloth diapers & covers
Total rounded up costs (assuming no replacements for 1 year)- $150


Annual cloth diaper expenditure (based on high end washer costs)= $279.44

Annual disposable diaper costs (Kirland at 34.89/box--- our family min 6 boxes/month):

Total Annual Disposable diaper expenditure= $2512.08


DIFFERENCE SAVED= $2232.64/YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BONUS- LESS TRASH IN LANDFILLS!



IN ADDITION:
Sooooo... let's say a female spends a whopping $35 on a menstrual cup (assuming that there are no replacements for 1 year)

1 box of Tampax Tampons, 88 count, costs approx. $13 (Costco)@ 6 boxes/year: $78

DIFFERENCE SAVED: $43!!!!!!! + BONUS OF LESS WASTE!!!!!
