I have never been a big fan of name brands and paying high prices. In fact, I've always had a sense of pride in finding great deals at low prices in thrift stores. And, hey, if something I buy happens to be name brand, so be it.
Of course, it always seems inevitable... I start looking at the quality of some of my purchased items. Half of them hardly get worn. I then end up telling myself, "what if I had waited to find what I really wanted and payed more?" Sure, I would end up with less bargains, but is it really a bargain if ends up back at the thrift store? (My internal justification is that at least I was a responsible consumer in recycling my clothes!)
These days, I still enjoy thrift store shopping, but I try to be a bit more picky and less frivolous. My husband always says, "Go big or go home" meaning we should buy quality and not risk having to buy replacements. I get it, but I don't completely agree. Not all purchases are this cut and dry.
