My husband's old Nike work boots are sitting in the trash waiting to be picked up by the garbage man first thing in the morning. The shoes are waaaaay beyond the donation point. He has been wearing them all winter long with the sole cracked and water leaking in. I don't get it.
Anyway, you would think that with the Nike headquarters just down the street, I would be able to easily locate a local recycling center for their Reuse-A-Shoe program. Took me a a smidgen bit, but I found the Site! Not all states have donation centers, but there is always the option of mailing them to here in Oregon. I just wonder if the carbon emissions from sending them out ways enough.
As for me, I will be removing the shoes from the garbage and traveling less than 10 minutes to donate them (assuming they accept the nasty things!)
