cause it's now 2 days in a row of writing!! The sun is shining and everybody is out from hiding. People are going on walks, mowing their yards and tending to their plants. Love this time of year... who doesn't?
All of this in mind, we have some reminders from the Bureau of Environmental Services on how to keep our rivers clean. You may be surprised to learn how common "yard" practices are dramatically effecting our rivers and thus keeping our salmon from thriving.
Here is just a handful of things to keep in mind:
Pick up your dog waste.
Sweep when cleaning outdoors instead of using a hose.
Try not to use fertilizers and pesticides. (There are non-toxic alternatives)
Mulch flower beds so that they retain more water and erode less.
